ABOUT

Dr Mirela Wagner

I am a clinical psychologist and psychoanalytic therapist working in private practice in Brisbane. I work with adults and I offer comprehensive psychological assessment, brief and long-term treatment, and clinical supervision.

I was awarded a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) after completing graduate studies in Psychology and a bachelors degree in Biomedical Science. I have over 15 years of clinical experience in both public and private sector and I have also worked across both in-patient and outpatient clinical settings within Queensland Health and the Department of Communities.

Supervision and Teaching

Additional to my clinical experience, I have held a number of non-clinical roles. I have also worked as a sessional lecturer and course coordinator teaching psychological assessment and interventions, psychodynamic therapy, and running clinical case conferences at postgraduate psychology courses at the Australian Catholic University.

Research

My graduate research has focused on personality traits as correlates of hypnotisability, while for my doctoral research I have investigated psychotherapy within multicultural therapy relationships. For my postdoctoral research, I have coordinated a research project at the Queensland Brain Institute at the University of Queensland focusing on early screening measures for Alzheimer’s disease (both cognitive and neural imaging), and I have also co-supervised a reflective practice groups research project in an inpatient forensic psychiatric unit, which was a collaboration between Queensland Health and QUT.
